About Billiam Barkenson

Billiam Barkenson poses with trophy

Billiam (Bill) Barkenson has been carving bananas since he was 13 years old. Now, at 33, he is the proud sculptor of over 2,000 pieces of art. His process is steeped in historical carving practices: he lays himself down, holds the bananas still in his paws, and deftly gnaws at them, switching between canine and incisor teeth.

In this photo, he is seen posing with a trophy at the 21st Annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Gothic Banana Carving Consortium. He won 1st place in both inhuman and robotic divisions for carvers over 30.
